This Valentine's Day whether you are going on a hot date or doing drinks with the girls you may wear more makeup than you normally would to dress things up. So let's talk about makeup & lash extensions. What makeup can you wear? What makeup should you avoid? And is it really that bad to sleep in your makeup? Keep reading to find answers to these questions and more.

You totally can wear makeup with your lash extensions. Lash extensions are way more durable now than they used to be. The most important thing to do when wearing makeup with lash extensions is to thoroughly clean them after and sometimes even before a makeup application. My favorite lash cleansers are Clean Treat by Treats Beauty Co. & TLC by Lash Affair. If you just got your lashes done and you are planning on applying makeup shortly after your appointment be sure to cleanse the lashes first. You always want cleanser to be the first thing that touches your extensions after an appointment. After a night out wearing makeup you’ll want to double cleanse your lashes. What that means is you are going to cleanse them with a brush and then rinse 2-3 times after. THEN, you’ll cleanse again and rinse 2-3 times again. You can also go in prior to the cleanse and use an oil-free makeup remover to help break down the makeup. My favorite is Neutrogena oil-free eye makeup remover. Although makeup remover isn’t necessary. A lash cleanser can usually get the job done with a double cleanlly whatever you do do not sleep in your makeup! You're aging yourself 7 whole days with one night of sleeping in your makeup. Not to mention clean lashes lead to better retention! Not cleansing your lashes can even lead to build up in the lash line which can sometimes only be removed and cleaned out with a full lash removal. Dirty lashes with tons of build-up can result in possible eye infections. So let's just avoid all of that by doing a double cleanse of our lash extensions this Valentine's Day! Sending y'all all the love3 <3! ! <!
So what kind of eye makeup should you use with your lash extensions?

Powdered eyeshadows are best. They are oil free, light weight, and easy to remove. My favorite powder eyeshadows are by Tarte. They are pigmented and work well with extensions. If you are wanting to add on some eyeliner for depth or get that nice sharp wing liquid eyeliner, the felt tip eyeliner pens are a must. Maybe you are in between fills and feel like you need to add a touch of mascara to give you some more drama. Totally fine! Just focus on applying to just the tips of the lashes.

My favorite product to use alongside with my makeup and lash extensions is Fluff Guard by Lash Box LA. This amazing formula is perfect to use after a makeup application to remove any oils from the lash extensions and make your lashes fluffy. All you do is spray it on to a spoolie and brush through the lashes. No need to rinse or pat dry. Think of it as a dry shampoo for your lashes. Not to replace your cleanser but use in between cleanses. You can pick this product up in the studio at your next visit. It's a pretty large bottle that will last you awhile for $35.
What makeup should you avoid?

Avoid all waterproof eye makeup!! Waterproof makeup builds up so easily on the extensions and is very difficult to remove. The build up will break down the bonds the extensions have with the natural lash. This will result in poor retention and you’ll need longer fill appointments more frequently to get your lashes back to being full. The same thing happens when using cream eyeshadows and gel eyeliner. Avoid all three of these things at all costs! There are so many better alternatives.

ALSO, literally whatever you do do not sleep in your makeup!
Sending y'all all the love<3!
